you could easily replace “Princeton” with “Brown” here and this would still be quite true.

really? I must disagree. I guess I’ve been lucky enough to have a totally opposite experience from this Princeton student. Brown people, although not perfect, are MUCH more welcoming than described here

I have to say that this characterization really doesn’t generalize to any of the people I know who go to Princeton. I get the same impression from reading the comments on that blog post.

Isn’t this…. why we have the mods filter our posts?
I am a shy, socially awkward Princeton student, and I’d really, really love to go to Brown for grad school (I fucking love Princeton, but Brown has always been my dream school). Though coming to Princeton was definitely a culture shock at first, I must say that neither I nor any of my friends have had experiences like the writer’s. She’s just kind of a crazy person. And the Prince definitely publishes controversial articles critiquing our campus culture… they probably didn’t publish this one because it’s naive, mean-spirited, and calls out identifiable groups in an inappropriate manner (like the cheerleaders).
No one is saying that Brown is better than HYP… Even as brown students we wouldn’t say that. I think we are just happy that life at the top of the Ivy league isn’t perfect.

Of students admitted to both Princeton and Brown, 73% choose Princeton.

I am proud to go to Brown, but kids choose Princeton over us for many reasons
